Do you want to go deep into practicing Radical Honesty while detoxing from modern city life?

We have created a truly radical retreat in the lush Costa Rican jungle. For a whole week, you will be living amongst toucans and monkeys in the heart of the rainforest to reconnect with your body and learn to express yourself in a true and vulnerable way.

You will stay at the remote Eco-Lodge Cascada Elysiana, surrounded by pristine green nature, waterfalls, and breathtaking hiking trails. In this picturesque environment, you will come face-to-face with your instincts and strip away all that is not you. But don’t worry: we have comfortable beds, professionally prepared meals, a nearby beach and bonfires to relax.

Includes three chef-prepared, locally-sourced vegetarian meals per day plus snacks and fruits during breaks. You are welcome to arrive before or stay after the workshop and become part of our local community, help out in the garden or simply laze around.

A Workshop in Living Life out Loud and Reconnecting to Your Senses

Radical Honesty is a revolutionary and compassionate communication method, cutting right through obsessive thinking to get grounded in the present moment. We believe that most modern human suffering is based on lying, whether in the form of withholding, manipulating, or the direct telling of lies (including so-called “little white lies”). We also believe that withholding feelings is one of the fastest ways to make yourself sick and create dis-ease in the body.

By lying, we trap ourselves in our own thoughts and live half-depressed, half-sleepwalking lives, wondering what happened to our childhood aliveness. We postpone happiness. We keep ourselves small and live out the same old day – over and over again. We wonder why we feel alienated from our friends, family, and loved ones and feel isolated from the world.

Radical Honesty is the antidote to playing it small!

… yet it has nothing to do with brutal honesty or extreme honesty.

At the workshop, you will learn how to:

- notice and express whatever arises in your body

- leave the past behind for good and live fully in the present

- repair broken relationships with parents, children, partners, and friends

- create your future based on your heart’s desire

- let go of shame, fear, and resentment

- lead nourishing, supportive relationships

- play more and worry less

Language

The training will be conducted in English. We have a German native speaker on site, as well as people fluent in Spanish and French.

Schedule

The retreat will begin on Friday 17 January at 7pm with a welcome dinner, bonfire, agreements and a short introduction. We will end on Friday 24 January around 1pm with a closing circle. Please book your trip to be present the whole entire time or contact us before.

Travel

You’ll fly into San Jose Costa Rica. From there, you can either take an express bus to Dominical, a local bus to San Isidro, or we can help you arrange a private shuttle.

Community

Participants will be asked to assist in the cooking, serving and cleaning up of meals/snacks as a way to help create community during our week together. This is commonly done in residential Radical Honesty workshops.

The workshop leaders will be certified Radical Honesty Trainers Marvin Schulz and Michael Alan Kolb (co-founder of the Eco-Lodge) and Trainer Candidate, Jura Glo.

Who can participate? Do I need previous workshop experience?

Everyone interested in close human connection and personal growth through communication is welcome to join us. You don’t need previous workshop experience and we, the trainers, are happy to assist you personally in the breaks and during all sessions.

About the Trainers:

Marvin Schulz, Certified Radical Honesty Trainer

Marvin Schulz, M.Sc., is one of the most experienced Radical Honesty Trainers and organizes workshops in Europe, Africa, and the Americas. As a former auditor for investment banks in New York and Executive Assistant for a multi-billion dollar company on Broadway, Marvin experienced the detrimental effects of lying and withholding first hand: at age 26, he was depressed and burned out.

“I had a promising career in front of me. However, I felt horrible and empty. None of the money I made could compensate for my inner yearning for love, connection and a happy life. After deciding not to kill myself, I opted for a Radical Honesty Workshop. After that, I still killed myself, but in a very different way: I killed my self-image and completed my past.”

He left the corporate rat wheel and embarked on his journey towards a more authentic, joyous, and connected life. He moved back to Germany and healed his own wounds by having honest conversations with important people. He cleaned up his past using Radical Honesty. Dr. Blanton invited Marvin to live at his place in Virginia for one season and certified him as a Radical Honesty trainer three years later.

Marvin has the ability to bring humor into seemingly serious processes while staying compassionate and curious. He is comfortable going into discomfort and can guide participants in re-experiencing hurt and pain while holding them in the here and now. His style is inquisitive, simple, and direct – often with a wink and never without compassion. Marvin has lived in China, Mexico, South Africa and the United States and studied cross-cultural communication. He currently resides in Prague, Czech Republic, where he produces music, drinks coffee and enjoys what he often calls the most beautiful city in the world. Michael Alan Kolb, Certified Radical Honesty Trainer

Mak has a BA in Psychology and has trained in Radical Honesty under the guidance of founder, Dr. Brad Blanton, and RH Master Trainer, Taber Shadburne since 2015.

Mak is committed to helping people develop the skills needed to live life out loud, to mend and build (and sometimes end) meaningful relationships and to ground themselves in experiential reality. He is particularly interested in the problems of existentialism, couples work and open relationships and dealing creatively with anger and conflict. He is Co-Founder of Cascada Elysiana.

Jura Glo, Radical Honesty Trainer Candidate

Jura is the founder of the biggest Radical Honesty community in Europe. She started practicing and leading groups in Radical Honesty in 2014 after seeing how impossible it became to hide and pretend to be happy and successful. After dropping out of Master Studies, she quit her job and taught herself all the skills she needed to work and live the life she wanted. Now she is an experienced transformational workshop leader and personal coach that specializes in Honesty, Intimacy & Sexuality. She is a founder of a visionary organization TransformWork which focuses on creating safe spaces for people to explore, discover and export new and forgotten ways of being, working and relating with each other.
