About The Event


The Sleep Retreat @ Cascada Elysiana provides you the opportunity to heal your sleep, both now and in the future, all amidst the peace and beauty of the Costa Rican jungle.

This retreat will provide you 1 on 1 support, sleep workshops, group activities, local organic food, yoga, nightly sleep meditation sessions, and many more resources. But most of all, it will offer you the time and space to integrate it all.

By trading in everyday life for a week in Costa Rica, your body will experience the circadian reset, and your mind the conceptual change necessary to overcome insomnia.


This retreat is not for everyone. It has been carefully curated for the insomniac who has chronically struggled with sleep and feels like they are out of options. If this is you, the retreat experience will support your sleep, not just as an escape, but in transforming your relationship to sleep on the deepest level. 

You will walk away from the retreat with a new understanding of your sleep and a tool box of new skills to take into your regular life. Most important to the insomniac though, this retreat is not just a place for you to celebrate sleep, but be supported to transpire in a new way if and when sleep doesn’t go as planned. Often times these moments yield the greatest sleep victories. 

This sleep retreat cannot guarantee a transformation out of insomnia, no retreat can. But it will bring you the most thoughtful experience you can find related to sleep, by two sleep experts who care deeply about insomniacs and want for them what they have experienced themselves. 


All options are at Cascada Elysiana Eco Lodge and Retreat Centre in the beautiful lush jungle. It is the perfect place to take a break from your normal life, emmerse yourself in nature and learn something new. You know those 'relaxing sounds of nature' CDs that people buy to sleep or meditate to? That is just life here. 


DELUXE CABINAS: Double occupancy, private washroom and shower. Each cabina features two twin beds with a view of the bamboo forest

MANGO CABINA BEDROOM: Private room in the Mango Cabina (total of 2 bedrooms). Guests in these rooms have use of eco toilets, open air showers, and a deck with a full jungle view

GLAMPING TENT: Private tent set up like a full bedroom with a private sink. Guests in the glamping tents have use of the eco toilets and open air showers. They also have a deck with hammock and a beautiful view.

Your retreat leaders Lauren Duffell and Derek Lacey are former insomniacs turned sleep coaches who have collaborated to support you with the physical and emotional tools needed to forever change the course of your sleep. 

About Lauren 

Listening to the body, discovering your own patterns, and reducing stress through education are Lauren's favourite powerful tools for overcoming sleep issues. She uses well researched lifestyle tools that are proven to work better than drugs to help clients improve their own sleep. She teaches how thoughts, actions and habits during the day set the 'stage' for the sleep to be had that night. There are many impacting factors when it comes to sleep. We are all unique and there is no one size fits all cure to insomnia. Each person's 'aha' moment will be a little different. Lauren's goal is for you to take new skills into your life that will help you for the rest of your life.

About Derek 

Having used "creative concepts" to transform his own sleep, in addition to lifestyle changes, Derek has incorporated this unique approach to sleep in his coaching. Seeing sleep through the lens of the body (circadian rhythm) and mind (specifically confidence & concepts), Derek has demonstrated with his clients that a sleep transformation can be achieved without needing to see significant improvements with sleep first. That "conceptually," a sleeper's brain can make better sense of their path to sleep, and with conscious thinking, confidence to sleep can be developed unconsciously, so that in short time sleep occurs in an entirely different way.
